The MCTC Junior Development Program seeks to expand existing recreational options for youth.  School reform and budget cuts have severed many programs that once furnished students with alternative activities.

The Motor City Tennis Club views participation in tennis as a viable intervention that involves youth in a constructive activity.  Tennis is a sport in which all family members can participate, and our Junior Development Program's activities encourage family interaction, guided by the principle that a strong parent-child relationship is the key to successful, resilient child development.

To date, MCTC's Junior Development Program has provided tennis instruction to a number of regionally and nationally ranked juniors who have utilized their skills and accomplishments to obtain scholarships.  Many of our former junior players have gone on to become doctors, lawyers, accountants, and teachers.  We are committed to making tennis available to all youngsters in the Metropolitan Detroit area, not only as a means for physical development and recreation, but to foster a sense of self-esteem, to develop character, to promote educational pursuits, and to encourage academic excellence.
